Haleema has been receiving treatment from ABMT from the age of 6 months. She is now 12 years old and thriving due to the care and dedication of ABMT staff and the quality of treatment received from ABMT. She is an active and healthy pre-teen, full of high spirits and optimism for the future.

She visits the ABMT hospital twice a month for transfusions in a friendly non-clinical environment. Our holistic approach means we cater for all her needs in a welcoming family environment.

Thalassemia affects millions globally, with 80-90 million people carrying the beta-thalassemia gene, making it the world’s most common inherited blood disorder, with around 1.31 million total cases in 2021 and about 100,000 severe births annually, primarily in Mediterranean, South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian regions, though carrier rates are rising globally due to migration.
